Love the boardroom drama. I suspect it’s probably somewhere in the middle, with shitty emotional decisions made by both sides.
Definitely worth watching all the BTS of their warehouses and offices on their YouTube. Their warehouses are unfathomable. He just dropped one about their factories in Asia, too.
Agree, seems the most likely — and entirely understandable if you’re 23, full of testosterone and ego and there’s (hundreds of) millions of pounds on the line.
Confession: I’ve actually never seen Margin Call 🙈
Keep meaning to watch it and I’m sure I’ll love it, just haven’t got round to it yet. Maybe that’s my job for this weekend.
Amazing sleuthing Andrew, and great write-up! I’ve heard Morgan and Lewis touch on the fallout in podcasts and it always seems like so much is unsaid (damn NDAs) but you seem to definitely be in proximity of whatever the truth is that happened over 2016!
Thanks! Hope I’m somewhere there or thereabouts. I’ve sent it to both Lewis and Ben for comment but haven’t heard back yet — like you say, it’s unlikely they’ll say anything given NDAs though.
For sure! Any reading material you recommend for me to learn more about how cap structures/ company shares work? I always hear about things like RSUs on things like the All In pod and FatFire reddits..your piece touches on class As and Bs which is simple enough with varying voting rights/dividends etc but I know there’s common/preferred/non-voting/restricted etc. All quite confusing to me but would love to learn about the corporate governance side of things in much more detail!
what a beautiful piece, Andrew! Kept me on the edge of my seat.
Hopping right into part 2, 1:20am on a Sunday, letsgo
sorry to ruin your sunday night sleep schedule!

Maybe it’s time to watch Margin Call again...

Do it! Amazing cast. Jeremy Irons is an absolute badass in it. Here’s a taste: https://vm.tiktok.com/ZGJ4FS7e3/
